Chris Sutton has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi facing no punishment for his action at the weekend.
The former Chelsea striker, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport and BT Sport, has suggested that Guendouzi should have been punished for grabbing Neal Maupay by the throat during the Premier League game against Brighton and Hove Albion at the weekend.
As reported by BBC Sport, Guendouzi clashed with Maupay following Brighton’s 2-1 win against the Gunners on Saturday afternoon.
It has been reported that despite his action, the 21-year-old French midfielder will not face any action from the FA, with his conduct reviewed by the video assistant referee having been missed by officials at the stadium.
Sutton believes that Guendouzi should have been punished, although Arsenal legend Ian Wright has defended the youngster.
The Mirror quotes Wright as saying before FA’s reported decision was made: “He’s (Guendouzi) given him a bit there and he’ll probably get in trouble for that. But we need to be showing that fight, for me.”
Top-four place in doubt
The defeat to Brighton means that Arsenal are now in danger of not finishing in the top four of the Premier League table this season.
Mikel Arteta’s side are currently 10th in the Premier League table with 40 points from 30 matches.
