Rangers have been in good form lately, and Steven Gerrard’s side maintained that form this afternoon against St. Mirren at Ibrox.
The Gers got the better of St. Mirren 4-0 at home in the Scottish Premiership, thanks to two goals from James Tavernier and a goal apiece from Jermain Defoe and Ryan Kent.
Both the goal from Tavernier were from the penalty spot, while Defoe’s strike was also a penalty kick.
In fact, Rangers were awarded four penalties at Ibrox, with right-back Tavernier guilty of missing one.
The win against St. Mirren means that Rangers are now three points behind leaders and bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic, who have a game in hand.
Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to the win for Rangers, as well as to victories for Motherwell and Aberdeen.
While Aberdeen got the better of Hibernian 2-1 away from home in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday afternoon to maintain their title chances, Motherwell won 3-0 against Livingston.
