Rangers were dumped out of the Scottish Cup tonight.

Aberdeen secured a 2-0 win at Ibrox to move into the semi-final of the competition, after a 1-1 draw in the original tie at Pittodrie.

The Gers got off to a nightmare start as Niall McGinn scored inside three minutes, before Connor McLennan doubled the advantage just after the hour mark.

It was Rangers’ last realistic chance of winning anything this season, with Steven Gerrard’s side eight points adrift of Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.

And Chris Sutton has joked that the light Blues are ‘concentrating on the league’ with a trademark swipe.

For Sutton’s former side Celtic, the dream of a third successive treble just got a lot more realistic.

The Hoops, huge favourites to win the Premiership after adding the Scottish League Cup to the trophy cabinet earlier this season, will play Derek McInnes’s side in the next round.

Should Neil Lennon’s side advance, they will play either Hearts – who won their replay 2-1 against Partick Thistle tonight – or Inverness in the final at Hampden in May.
