Rangers lost 1-0 to Aberdeen in the Scottish League Cup this evening.

Rangers failed to reach the final of the Scottish League Cup this evening as they were beaten 1-0 by Aberdeen in the semi-finals at Hampden Park.
Celtic booked their place in the final with a win over Hearts earlier in the day, and Rangers were hoping to make it an Old Firm final by seeing off Aberdeen today.
The big problem for Rangers entering the game was a lack of a proven striker, as Alfredo Morelos was suspended and Kyle Lafferty cup-tied for the game, leaving Umar Sadiq – with no appearances in more than two months – to lead the line.
Sadiq proved to be a disaster in the Rangers attack, and the Gers were left with no cutting edge in the final third, giving Aberdeen the perfect window to sneak a 1-0 win late in the day.
Lewis Ferguson – formerly of the Rangers youth ranks and the nephew of ex-Gers captain Barry Ferguson – snatched the winner, heading home a late corner to give Aberdeen a 1-0 win.
Rangers were hugely disappointing without Morelos, and pundit Chris Sutton took to Twitter to react to the performance – and the absence of star striker Morelos.

Sutton suggested that Gerrard has a major problem on his hands as, whilst Rangers have been impressive in Europe this season, their domestic form has been majorly disappointing – proven again today.
Sutton added that Morelos being suspended ultimately cost Rangers, suggesting the Colombian was to blame for his ‘daft’ suspension picked up against Ayr United in the last round.
