Over the course of the 90 minutes at Goodison Park on Thursday evening, hosts Everton had 49% of the possession, took nine shots of which five were on target, and earned four corners, according to BBC Sport.

The Merseyside outfit will return to action on Sunday afternoon when they take on Southampton away from home at St. Mary’s Stadium in the Premier League.

The Saints are 14th in the league table at the moment with just 13 points from 12 matches, while the Toffees are currently 16th with 12 points from as many games.

Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen has predicted the match between Southampton and Everton to end in a goalless draw.

“Everton are without a win in their last 14 PL games on the road and Southampton have failed to score in ten of their home PL games in 2017,” Owen wrote on Betvictor.com.

“A fixture that doesn’t exactly scream a classic and I will be surprised if we see many – or any – goals at St Mary’s.”

A footnote added: “Tip: Game to finish 0-0 at 7/1.”
