Chris Sutton has suggested that Brendan Rodgers is clearly not happy with Celtic’s inability to get a deal done for John McGinn.

Chris Sutton has taken to Twitter to suggest that Brendan Rodgers is not entirely happy at Parkhead after hearing the Hoops boss’ comments regarding the Scottish Premiership champions’ pursuit of John McGinn, which have been reported by STV.
Celtic have been pursuing Hibs midfielder McGinn for much of the summer, with STV reporting that the Bhoys have seen three bids rejected for the 23-year-old. And their inability to get a deal done thus far has seemingly opened the door for Aston Villa to swoop in.
According to STV, McGinn is now holding talks with Villa ahead of a potential move to the Championship side. And Rodgers reiterated his desire to see Celtic make a late play to get the Scotland international in at Parkhead before Villa.
“He’s a player we clearly wanted to bring here, he’s a player from a few months back I was really interested in bringing in,” he said, as reported by STV. “But we haven’t been able to complete a deal and when you don’t complete a deal for a player it opens the door for other teams.

“Aston Villa are clearly interested in him and have a big history of their own, a great club with excellent facilities and now financial backing. So we have to wait and see on him.”
The race for McGinn does not appear to be over by any means, but Sutton has suggested on social media that he is concerned by Rodgers’ comments and insisted that the Celtic boss is not happy with the club hierarchy.
Here is what Sutton posted on Twitter in response to Rodgers’ comments…
It has definitely been a quiet window for Celtic, with Odsonne Edouard and Scott Bain proving to be the only signings to have arrived since the end of last season – and both men were on loan at Parkhead last term anyway.

Celtic can continue to do business for a while after the English window closes this week, but Rodgers may perhaps fear that it will become harder to get deals done at that stage.
Some English clubs, such as Aston Villa, may be determined to get deals completed now for potential Celtic targets while they have a chance, while other teams south of the border may be less willing to do business with the Hoops once their window closes as it will be significantly more difficult to get replacements in.
