Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has suggested that Dedryck Boyata is not fit enough to travel for their Europa League tie.

Chris Sutton has taken to Twitter to express his confusion following comments made by Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers – that have been reported by the Daily Record – regarding Dedryck Boyata’s fitness as the Belgian was left out of the Hoops squad that has travelled to Lithuania ahead of their Europa League tie with Suduva.

Boyata’s future with the Hoops has looked uncertain for a while now. STV reported that the former Manchester City ace was disappointed that the Scottish Premiership champions rejected Fulham’s bid in the summer, and there was a lot of confusion as he missed the second-leg of the Bhoys’ Champions League qualifying clash with AEK Athens.

As reported by STV, Boyata insisted that he was injured ahead of the game in Greece, but Rodgers’ comments suggested that that was not the case.

However, in comments reported by the Record, Rodgers has suggested that Boyata has not travelled to Lithuania for their latest European tie due to fitness concerns, adding that he has held talks with the manager to clear the air.

Unsurprisingly, Rodgers’ latest comments have not provided much clarity at all, with many feeling extremely confused, especially as he trained with the Hoops on the day they departed ahead of Thursday’s tie.

And Sutton has taken to social media to offer his thoughts on the situation, and it seems highly likely that his thoughts reflect the opinions of many of the Parkhead faithful with many now desperate to see a conclusion to what has arguably become a saga.
