Southampton have snapped up goalkeeper Angus Gunn from Manchester City.
Southampton continued their strong start to the summer transfer window by completing a deal for Manchester City goalkeeper Angus Gunn, as confirmed on their official website.
The Saints have already added midfielder Stuart Armstrong from Celtic and winger Mohamed Elyounoussi from Basel, but Mark Hughes remains keen on new additions.
Whilst a deal for Borussia Monchengladbach defender Jannik Vestergaard appears to be close, Southampton did wrap up their third signing on Monday evening.
Manchester City goalkeeper Angus Gunn has penned a five-year contract with Southampton, with BBC Sport reporting that the fee involved is around £13.5million.
Gunn, 22, started out with his hometown club Norwich City before heading to join Manchester City in 2011, but he has yet to make a single first-team appearance for the Premier League champions.
The 6ft 5in stopper spent last season back with Norwich in an impressive loan spell, and he even earned a call-up to the England squad back in November as he starred at Carrow Road.
Now, Gunn heads to the South Coast to battle with Alex McCarthy and Fraser Forster for a first-team spot under Mark Hughes, and pundit Chris Sutton is a huge fan of the move.
Sutton has taken to Twitter to suggest that signing Gunn is ‘good business’ for Southampton, and predicted a big future for the goalkeeper by suggesting that he is ‘going place’ in his career.
