Chris Sutton has taken to Twitter to praise Rangers after they came out on top in the latest Old Firm game, with Ryan Jack scoring the only goal at Ibrox on Saturday.

Steven Gerrard’s side were superb as they looked for their first league win against Celtic since 2012, and their first victory in any competition against the champions since they were in the second tier and being led by Mark Warburton.

Rangers dominated the game and got their rewards towards the end of the first-half when Ryan Jack slid the ball towards the goal and a deflection off Scott Brown saw it head into the bottom corner past Craig Gordon.

Brendan Rodgers’ side rarely looked like scoring. However, an excellent offside decision denied Callum McGregor when the Hoops star managed to finish well past Allan McGregor during the second-half.

The Gers seemed to want the victory more and their intensity seemed to catch Celtic off-guard. Gerrard’s men, in particular, controlled the midfield battle and prevented the likes of Mikey Johnston and Odsonne Edouard from really getting into the game.

And after the full-time whistle, Sutton took to social media to praise Rangers’ performance and insist that Celtic did not do anywhere near enough to win the game. He added that Rodgers has been handed a wake-up call ahead of the January window.
