Nottingham Forest have appointed Martin O’Neill as their new manager.

Nottingham Forest have secured an emotional move after bringing back former midfielder Martin O’Neill as their new manager.
Forest saw Aitor Karanka leave the club on Friday after weeks of speculation, and they haven’t waited around to land his successor in the City Ground dugout.
Despite being linked with Carlos Carvalhal and Slavisa Jokanovic, Forest went back in time to bring in former midfielder O’Neill.
The 66-year-old recently left his post as Republic of Ireland boss, bringing an end to five years in charge of The Boys in Green, in which he led them to the 2016 European Championships.
Now, O’Neill is heading back to Forest. As a player, O’Neill played almost 300 league games for Forest, scoring 48 goals as he played a key role under Brian Clough.
O’Neill won a First Division title with the club as well as two European Cups amongst a host of other honours, going down in club folklore.

His arrival as manager hasn’t exactly gone down well with everybody though, as some believe that he is too negative to take Forest to the Premier League.
However, pundit Chris Sutton – who played under O’Neill at Celtic – has taken to Twitter to wish his former gaffer luck, and wants to see him take Forest back to the Premier League, where they ‘belong’.
