Arsenal made it two wins from two in this season’s Europa League with a 4-0 thumping of Standard Liege on Thursday night.

The Gunners opened their campaign with a 3-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt last month, and they went one better with a thrashing of the Belgians.

Gabriel Martinelli opened the scoring with a thumping header from a superb Kieran Tierney cross, before the Brazilian got his and Arsenal’s second just moments later with a fine right-footed finish.

Joe Willock made it 3-0 in the second half, and Dani Ceballos rounded off the scoring by turning home Martinelli’s chipped cross.

Teenage attacker Martinelli has stolen the headlines with his goals, but Arsenal fans have been blown away by the performance of new signing Tierney.

The former Celtic left back was making just his second start for Arsenal since making his August move to North London, and with four chances created, he showed what an attacking outlet he can be.

After his performance, ex-Celtic ace and current pundit Chris Sutton took to Twitter to react to his display, praising his terrific attitude whilst praising the way he plays, suggesting that he’s back thriving just as he was at Celtic after some injury problems.
