The Celtic hitman is struggling to get game time for Scotland.

Chris Sutton has described Gordon Strachan’s latest criticism of Celtic and Scotland striker Leigh Griffiths as “ridiculous”.
The Celtic hitman, who netted 40 goals last season, played 46 minutes of the 180 that Scotland had against Lithuania and Slovakia in World Cup qualifying this month.
Strachan’s side drew 1-1 with Lithunia but got hammered 3-0 away to Slovakia in a defeat which prompted suggestions that the Scottish boss was wrong to drop Griffiths.

It was a couple of games which prompted suggestions that Strachan simply has to start the 26-year-old in next month’s must-win qualifier against England at Wembley.
Today, the former Celtic manager intimated that Griffiths – who is 173cm in height – was too short for international football in comments which have seen the 59-year-old criticised for such a statement.

Sutton was asked on Twitter what he made of Strachan’s claim and he was typically honest.
Griffiths’ height seems irrelevant. The bottom line is that he is a goalscorer – a superb one – and Scotland have a much better chance against England with him than they do without him.
The Hoops man is a cut above the likes of Steven Fletcher or Chris Martin, but whether Strachan sees that or not remains to be seen.
