Celtic progressed into the Champions League playoffs with a nervy 1-0 win away to Rosenborg tonight.
James Forrest, playing up front, was the hero as his 69th-minute goal meant that the Norwegian side would need two, after last week’s 0-0 draw at Celtic Park.
Brendan Rodgers’s side are now 180 minutes away from another spot in the group stages of the Champions League and another huge windfall, to the tune of around £30 million.
And club legend Chris Sutton was delighted with the “courage” shown by his former side.
The Bhoys were given plenty of excitement in the competition last season, with draws home and away against Manchester City for instance, and that should be enough incentive for the players ahead of their playoff.
Not that it would be much consolation, for the reasons mentioned above, but Rodgers’s side also have the luxury of knowing that even a defeat in the next phase would see them drop into the Europa League proper.
