Celtic drew 1-1 with the Premier League side on Tuesday.
Chris Sutton has told BT Sport that Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon probably should’ve done better for Manchester City’s goal in Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw at the Etihad.
Celtic rounded off their Group C campaign with probably their best result in Europe this season as Patrick Robert’s opener was cancelled out by Kelechi Iheanacho on eight minutes.
It was an excellent point against the Premier League side – whom they also drew with at Parkhead – but Brendan Rodgers’s side knew beforehand they would finish bottom.
But the dead rubber nature of the game from a Hoops perspective did not stop the players from producing a fine performances and, in truth, they were perhaps the better side.
Iheanacho latched on to a through ball and showed Erik Sviatchenko a clean pair of heels before drilling a left-footed effort past Gordon to restore parity.
And ex-Celtic striker Sutton believes that the Scotland goalkeeper should done a lot better to keep it out.
He told BT Sport: “Craig Gordon should save that. Sviatchenko initially should track the runner – he should do much better – but Gordon has to save that. It’s straight at him.”
Celtic were not expected to make it out of the group but it was an excellent and brave showing from the Bhoys nevertheless.
