Kenny Miller has endured a turbulent time recently at Glasgow Rangers, so are his days at Ibrox numbered?

Chris Sutton has told BT Sport’s live pre-match coverage of Rangers’ Scottish League Cup semi-final clash with Motherwell (broadcast on 22nd October 2017 from 1:30 pm) that he cannot see Kenny Miller playing for the Gers again after he was left out of the squad for the Hampden Park showdown.

Miller has quickly moved to the periphery of the first-team squad at Ibrox, with the Daily Record reporting that he has not played since a heated meeting with Pedro Caixinha following the defeat in the first Old Firm meeting of the season, and his agent has recently hit out at Caixinha on social media.

And after the veteran forward was left out of the side to take on Motherwell in the last four tie – making it three games in a row that he has not been involved in the squad – Sutton suggested that he does not expect Miller to play for the Gers again.

He told BT Sport’s live pre-match coverage of Rangers’ Scottish League Cup semi-final (broadcast on 22nd October 2017 from 1:30 pm): “I don’t think there is any way back, he’s been back in training. Why is he not involved?”

Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha looks on during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Hibernian at Ibrox Stadium on August 12, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

“There’s clearly some issue and it’s going to come to a head, it will come to a head. It’s sad because Kenny Miller has been a great servant to Rangers Football Club.”

Until all the facts are made public, it is difficult to know whether Caixinha’s apparent stance to practically exile Miller is justified, or whether the 37-year-old has been treated unfairly.

One thing that is for certain is surely that Miller’s form this season means that his absence has not hurt the side particularly, as the forward had struggled to make much of an impact when he had played.

But his experience and knowledge about the club will certainly be missed if, as Sutton predicts, Miller has already played his final game as a Rangers player.
