Daniel Sturridge scored for England last night, but Chris Sutton feels there is still room for improvement from the Liverpool star.
Writing a column for the Daily Mail, former Celtic and Blackburn Rovers star Chris Sutton explained how he feels that Daniel Sturridge could work harder, despite praising him for his well-taken goal against Scotland.
The Liverpool man has scored five times this season, despite not finding the back of the net for his club in the Premier League.
Sutton, who earned one solitary cap for his country, wrote a column for the Daily Mail, and highlighted two areas where the former Chelsea and Manchester City man could improve:

“Yes, Sturridge can work harder. Yes, he can threaten more in behind. But it was a difficult night for him — he was starved of service. England played too slowly through the middle and Scotland kept things tight. When you get a chance at this level, you have to take it and it was a superb finish from the Liverpool striker.”
The 27-year-old Reds striker has only managed four Premier League starts for his club this season, with the form of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho making it extremely hard for him to force his way into Jürgen Klopp’s starting XI.

Last night’s goal will do him the world of good, however, and he will now be hoping to kick on for both club and country, and prove that he can play an entire season without succumbing to injury.
Next up for the Three Lions is a friendly against Spain on Tuesday night, and Sturridge will be hoping for another chance to prove his quality to both Gareth Southgate and Klopp – who will surely be keeping a close eye on his display.
