Chris Sutton names three Celtic players not currently performing

Celtic have not lost a domestic game since September, but Chris Sutton has suggested that some still need to step up.

Chris Sutton has told BT Sport that he would pick out Scott Sinclair, Odsonne Edouard and Tom Rogic as the three Celtic players that are currently not performing as well as they should.

Brendan Rodgers’ men have enjoyed an important couple of weeks at the start of this month. They have claimed another domestic honour in the League Cup, qualified for the knockout stages of the Europa League and have seized the initiative in the title race in the Scottish Premiership.

They are unbeaten since September domestically. But after their 2-1 defeat to Red Bull Salzburg left them on the brink of being knocked out on Thursday, Sutton suggested that three players in particular need to step up.

“Scott Sinclair is not performing. Edouard isn’t doing enough. I was really disappointed with Tom Rogic last night. I’m a big fan of Tom Rogic, so they’ve got issues,” he told BT Sport, when asked to name who needs to improve.

Rogic’s performance on Thursday night did frustrate a lot of supporters who felt that he gave away possession too easily and showed little effort to get the ball back.

Meanwhile, Sinclair – who did enjoy an improved run of form around October – has scored once in his last nine appearances for the Bhoys and is starting to come in for criticism once again.

Edouard’s form is also a concern with one goal in his last seven appearances. His record over the season itself has been impressive, but Celtic are now more reliant on him than they ever have been while they wait for the January window to open.
