Ibrox outfit Glasgow Rangers will be without Joe Garner for the Scottish Premiership game against Celtic this afternoon.
Celtic and Rangers will face each other at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership in a few hours’ time.
Brendan Rodgers’s side will head into the Old Firm derby as favourites and will be expected to pick up all three points.
The Bhoys have the strongest team in the Scottish Premiership and are also unbeaten in the league so far this season.
Rangers, though, have won their last two competitive matches and will be aiming to clinch at least a point from this afternoon’s encounter.
The Gers will be without Joe Garner for the match. The 28-year-old striker is suspended for the Old Firm derby.
Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton believes that it is good for Rangers that Garner will not play in the match.
Sutton has also suggested that only the Celtic fans will miss Garner, who joined Rangers from Preston North End in the summer of 2016 for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Record to be worth £1.8 million.
“It says it all that Celtic fans are the ones disappointed to see Garner banned from taking the field at Parkhead tomorrow, thanks to a characteristically needless booking against Dundee last month,” Sutton wrote in The Daily Record.
“Garner might be gutted to miss out on the big day, although if he was so desperate to play in a massive game I’d ask why he wasn’t walking on eggshells in the weeks ahead knowing that he was on the cusp of a ban.
“But it’s fair to say he won’t be missed by the Rangers fans and team-mates who wouldn’t have been able to trust him to stay on the pitch.”
