Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic signed Charly Musonda on loan from Chelsea in the January transfer window.

Scott Brown of Celtic and his team mates celebrate victory after the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox Stadium on March 11, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Chris Sutton has admitted in The Daily Record that he has been mystified by Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers not using Charly Musonda enough.

Scottish Premiership giants Celtic signed Musonda on loan from Premier League powerhouse Chelsea in the January transfer window.

The 21-year-old, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, has played just 208 minutes of Scottish Premiership football for the Hoops since his loan move in January, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

The Belgium Under-21 international, who earns £520,000 per year as salary according to Spotrac.com, was an unused substitute during Celtic’s goalless draw with Motherwell away from home in the Scottish Premiership last weekend.

Former Celtic striker Sutton, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport and BT Sport, has admitted that he is mystified why manager Rodgers did not use Musonda last weekend.

Charly Musonda of Celtic warms up prior to the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox Stadium on March 11, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Sutton wrote in The Daily Record: “I’m a fan of Callum McGregor and I was also impressed with the signing of Charly Musonda, even though I’m mystified by what’s happening with him.

“Scoreless with 20 minutes to go at Motherwell last weekend, I would have thought Rodgers might have called for the Chelsea loanee who was signed to break down packed defences.”

What’s happening to Charly Musonda?

Musonda is a very talented and promising young attacking player, and Celtic manager Rodgers needs to give him a run in the team.

The Belgium Under-21 international can only improve and develop if he gets playing time, and former Liverpool and Swansea City boss Rodgers should allow him the chance to show what he is capable of.
