Aston Villa loanee Ross McCormack is currently playing for Scottish Premiership side Motherwell.
Chris Sutton has hilariously mocked Aston Villa loanee, Ross McCormack, ahead of his potential debut for Motherwell on Wednesday night by questioning whether he will ‘turn up for training’ or ‘get over the gates’ beforehand.
The 32-year-old, who returned to Fir Park this month on a short-term deal, has seen his Villa career pretty much ended following a ‘gate incident’ in January 2017.
Then manager Steve Bruce criticised McCormack for not turning up for training, who blamed his absence on faulty gates [Mirror], and he has since been ostracised from the team.
Following his fourth loan spell in two years, former Premier League winner Sutton offered his thoughts on Villa’s £12 million [BBC Sport] signing heading back to Scotland, but couldn’t help but mock his previous well-publicised event.
“If he can turn up for training,” Sutton told BT Sport. “Get over the gates. Talented boy. It will be good to see him get back on track. It looks to be a good piece of business on paper by Motherwell.”
Villa flop McCormack will now be preparing for Motherwell’s Scottish Premiership clash against Hibernian on Wednesday night following the midweek winter break in Scotland.
Steve Robinson’s side are ninth in the table, 11 points ahead of bottom-of-the-table Dundee and eight points behind their midweek opponents, who are managed by Neil Lennon.
Former Scotland international McCormack, who only scored three goals at Villa Park in the Championship, will be returning to familiar territory having played for the Steelmen over 10 years ago.
