Celtic are 14 points clear of Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers in the Scottish Premiership.

Celtic beat Partick Thistle 1-0 at Parkhead on Tuesday.

Scott Sinclair’s goal was enough for Celtic on a night which saw Brendan Rodgers’s side – who still have one game in hand – move 14 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership, ahead of Rangers in second.

It seems obvious that it would take a huge upset to prevent the Hoops cruising to a sixth successive Premiership title.

But Hoops legend Chris Sutton has joked on Twitter there is “not a lot in it at the top” in a probable reference to the ever-widening gap between Celtic and Rangers.

Sutton might also have been referencing a claim made by Rangers legend Kris Boyd, who said last week that the points difference between both sides was not a fair reflection of both teams’ quality.

Mark Warburton’s side will have a score to settle when they welcome the Bhoys to Ibrox on December 31 for the third Old Firm meeting of the season.

Celtic won the previous two and won them very easily, at that.

Rodgers’s side thumped the Gers 5-1 at Parkhead during a Premiership meeting in September and although the Scottish League Cup semi-final at Hampden Park only ended 1-0, it was a very one-sided affair.
