Chris Sutton has not held back after ex-Rangers star Joey Barton dismissed Celtic’s 63-match unbeaten run.

Former Celtic star Chris Sutton has launched a scathing attack at ex-Rangers midfielder Joey Barton in his Daily Record column, claiming his performances for the Gers were nothing better than “Sunday League” standard.
Hot-head midfielder Barton is known for his outspoken nature and his views have certainly riled-up the Celtic fanbase, especially after playing against Celtic in one of those 63 matches.

Barton’s comments incensed Hoops icon Sutton, who blasted one-time England international Barton in his column, claiming he was humiliated by Scott Brown in September 2016’s Old Firm derby that saw Celtic win 5-1.
“Barton undermines the [63-match] achievement. Said he knew of Sunday League teams that have managed it,” Sutton wrote.
“Well the truth is Joey was arguably Rangers’ worst signing and was part of the 63-game record in probably the most memorable game where he was humiliated at Celtic Park by Scott Brown.
“He could have stopped the run but instead chooses to belittle the game north of the border and talk it down. Joey has had a decent career but couldn’t cut it on the pitch in the SPFL and was found out.
“The only thing Sunday League were his performances for Rangers.”

Barton managed just eight appearances for the Gers before being suspended by the Ibrox club after a training ground incident with fellow midfielder Andy Halliday, who has also since left the club on loan.
He was then released by the Scottish giants in November 2016, before being banned from football in April 2017 for 18 months after the Football Association found him guilty of placing 1260 bets during a seven-year period.
