Celtic need to sign a new striker in January, and Chris Sutton has joked that they should turn a familiar face.

Chris Sutton has told BT Sport that Celtic have no choice but to sign a new striker in January, and joked that Brendan Rodgers should try to bring Teemu Pukki back to Parkhead.
The Hoops have had plenty of issues with their striker situation this term. Moussa Dembele was not replaced when he left in the summer, while Leigh Griffiths is unfortunately having to take a break from the game.
And with Odsonne Edouard recently injured, Rodgers will be under no illusions as to how important it is that they get a new goalscorer in during the January window. And Sutton suggested that the striker that they should target is the 28-year-old who endured a miserable stint at Celtic Park earlier in his career.
“They absolutely need one,” he told BT Sport. “Pukki. Get Pukki back from Norwich, What a player. At Celtic, he was dreadful. I said to the local radio guy [when he joined Norwich], ‘what in earth have they signed him for?’ And he’s banging them in every week. Fair play to him.”

As Sutton suggests, Pukki is enjoying a wonderful spell at Carrow Road. He has scored 13 goals in the Championship this season, four more than he got in all competitions during his spell at Celtic.
It appears unlikely that Norwich are going to be willing to listen to anything other than crazy offers for the Finland international.
It will be difficult for Celtic to get a top striker in in January, when teams are even more reluctant to lose important players. Rodgers will now have to weigh up whether it is worth spending a little extra to get one of his targets in, or worth loaning an exciting prospect or a player who has been written off elsewhere before reassessing the situation in the summer.
