Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers should hand Kenny Miller a new contract, suggests Chris Sutton.
Rangers’ Kenny Miller celebrates scoring
Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has suggested on social networking site Twitter that Rangers should hand Kenny Miller a new contract.
Miller is in his third spell at Rangers this season, but his current deal with the Gers runs out in the summer, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
The 37-year-old former Celtic striker is a senior figure in the current Rangers team and has scored some important goals this season.
The Scotsman was on target twice for Rangers on Sunday afternoon, as Pedro Caixinha’s side got the better of Aberdeen 3-0 away from home at the Pittodrie Stadium in the Scottish Premiership.
After the match, Rangers manager Caixinha told The Daily Record when asked if Miller has done enough to earn a new deal: “I am always negotiating with all the players and sometimes we see the importance of the strikers because they score the goals.
“But also an example is Wes Foderingham making the great save he did before the goals and if he did not do that we might not be having this moment right now. It’s about the team. What we just need to have is everyone working together.”
Caixinha seems non-committal about Miller, but former Celtic striker Sutton believes that the Rangers star should be given a new contract.
Rangers are third in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 55 points from 32 matches, nine points behind second-placed Aberdeen.
The Gers will return to action next weekend when they take on Partick Thistle at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership.
