Former Celtic star Chris Sutton has praised Celtic’s performance against Manchester City to BT Sport, saying they proved they are good enough to compete in the Champions League.
The Scottish champions hosted Pep Guardiola’s side at Celtic Park on Wednesday evening in the second of their Group C games.
They headed into the clash with some trepidation, having lost their opening game 7-0 to Barcelona at the Nou Camp.
Instead, the Hoops proved their class as they led the Premier League leaders on three separate occasions to secure a 3-3 draw.

It was a performance of the highest quality and Sutton, who has often been critical of his former team, was full of praise, telling BT Sport:
“It was about being brave and courageous, Celtic proved they are good enough to play in the Champions League.”
“[It was] a brilliant response from Barcelona. All the credit should go to Brendan Rodgers and his team.”

Celtic must look to build on this performance now and try to secure their first win over Borussia Monchengladbach next time around.
They are currently third in the group and while they are unlikely to finish either first or second, this result significantly boosts their hopes of finishing third.
Securing Europa League football would represent a big achievement, although, after this display, they will certainly have bigger aspirations.
