Former Newcastle United coach Ian Cathro has been appointed the new Heart of Midlothian manager.

Former Norwich City and Blackburn Rovers striker Chris Sutton has suggested on social networking site Twitter that Ian Cathro would be a success at Heart of Midlothian.

Cathro has been appointed as the Hearts manager following the departure of Robbie Neilson to Milton Keynes Dons.

The 30-year-old was working as a coach under manager Rafael Benitez at Championship club Newcastle United.

This is the Scotsman’s first managerial job, and former Celtic and Chelsea striker Sutton has faith in him.

Hearts are fourth in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 27 points from 16 matches.

The Jam Tarts are only two points behind second-placed Rangers and are very much in the running for the runners-up spot this season.

The Jambos will take on Mark Warburton’s Rangers away from home at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership this weekend.

Hearts will head into the match against the Glasgow giants on Saturday afternoon on the back of a 2-2 draw with Ross County away from home at the Global Energy Stadium in the league.
