Everton have failed to live up to expectations throughout the campaign so far.
Chris Sutton has told BBC Radio Five Live programme The Monday Night Club, which was broadcast on 4th April, that Everton defender Leighton Baines was just being honest with his latest comments.
Baines told The Guardian that Everton’s squad lacked chemistry, and that was the reason why they had struggled so far this season.
And Sutton was pleased to see the left-back make such a statement, as he feels that Roberto Martinez’s analysis of Everton’s performances has been bizarre.
“He [Martinez] just comes out and talks a pile of nonsense,” he said. “He talks about a game that nobody else sees. Is he mad? He’s not watching the same game as the fans.
“Leighton Baines has come out there and been honest. I’m not calling Martinez dishonest, but I just don’t understand what he sees. He’s not adaptable.”
Everton have failed to live up to expectations this season, and there is a feeling that they have a lot more quality in their squad than they are showing.
The Toffees are currently stuck in 12th place in the Premier League table, despite having one of the most exciting groups of players in England.
Martinez has remained positive throughout the campaign, but he is under a great deal of pressure at the moment.
The atmosphere at Goodison Park has grown increasingly frustrated as the season has progressed, and the calls for Martinez to be sacked are growing louder by the game, with Everton’s poor form showing no signs of ending.
