Paul Dummett’s comments about Newcastle United haven’t gone down well with one former Premier League striker.

BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton has called Newcastle United defender Paul Dummett a ‘disgrace’ and stated he has been left ‘angry’ at his comments.

In Steve Bruce’s first two games as Newcastle manager, he has realised what a tough ride it will be and that was proven during their 3-1 defeat against Norwich last time out.

After the game, left-back Dummett had to ‘clarify’ comments he made about the warm-up and how it ‘wasn’t right’ in the build-up to that humiliating Norwich defeat, as quoted by the Sheild Gazzette.

Speaking to Football Daily on BBC Radio 5 Live, former Premier League winner Sutton wasn’t impressed with Dummett’s comments.

“What about a little bit of self-responsibility then,” Sutton told BBC Radio 5 Live. “Why come out publicly and say that? I think that’s a disgrace, I really, really do.

“It’s made me angry actually this Paul Dummett comment about warming up, ‘the warm-up wasn’t right’. I mean come on! Warm yourself up!”

Newcastle need to put points on the board now because the longer their poor results and performances will go on, the more difficult it will become for Steve Bruce.

At the weekend, Bruce’s side will host Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur and if they can secure a positive result from this game then it’ll be a big boost to the St James’ Park dressing room.

Another defeat will just turn the heat up even further for Bruce, who is already facing a losing battle at Newcastle.
