The former Celtic striker has been discussing the struggling manager.
Chris Sutton is no stranger to criticising Ronny Deila. Indeed, the former Celtic striker has more or less made a job out of it over the last few months.
But it’s not like anyone can tell him he’s way off right now. And, according too BBC Football, Sutton thinks a misleading factor kept the Norwegian in a job at Celtic earlier this season.
Sutton believes the Hoops have regressed and were ‘disgraceful’ in Europe, suggesting they should have replaced Deila in January. But three good results ‘papered over the cracks’ to keep the head coach safe.
The former Bhoys striker told BBC Radio Five Live: “They’ve been disgraceful in Europe this season. Go back 12 months and ask ‘has there been progress’? Absolutely not. They have regressed.
“He’s [Deila] failed two years running. They had the opportunity to have a new manager come in and buy his own players.
“The problem is they thrashed Hamilton and Dundee United at the start of the month and beat Stranraer in the Scottish Cup and everybody was getting carried away. They were papering over the cracks.”
Recently, Frank McAvennie suggested he has never seen Rangers fans so happy when Celtic play.
Meanwhile, David Moyes is the favourite to replace Deila if the Bhoys part company with the Norwegian, according to sports betting website Oddschecker.
