Rangers goalkeeper Wes Foderingham won praise for his performance.
Rangers Wesley Foderingham
Chris Sutton has explained his decision to select Rangers goalkeeper Wes Foderingham in his Team of the Week, despite the club’s defeat to Inverness.
Rangers slipped to 33 points behind rivals Celtic this weekend, appearing to be lacking direction under caretaker boss Graeme Murty.
Sutton picked Foderingham in his best XI of the weekend, compiled on behalf of BT Sport.
The former Celtic pundit felt that without Foderingham, the 2-1 scoreline would have been even worse for the Gers.
Foderingham has been under pressure in recent weeks, good one moment and haphazard the next. This past weekend was a positive performance, only for the team as a whole to let him down.
The gap between them and Celtic is constantly increasing and could top 40 points before March is over.
It is important for Rangers’ chances next season that they pick up some positive results, even if a win against the league leaders in their upcoming fixture next month appears a long shot at this point.
