The Toffees midfielder put in a maestro’s performance for Marco Silva’s side at Goodison Park.

BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton has spoken very highly of Everton midfielder Andre Gomes, describing him as “such an important part” of the Toffees performance today and “the outstanding player” for Marco Silva’s side as they won at Goodison Park.
The Portugal ace looked back to his best today with a near-flawless performance, weighing in with several raking passes to split the West Ham defence wide open, and showed plenty of energy and desire well into the latter stages of the game.
Prior to kickoff, Everton had lost their previous four Premier League games, piling the pressure on Toffees boss Marco Silva, but with Gomes pulling the strings, assisted by fellow central midfielder Tom Davies and with the rest of the team also on song, they claimed all three points.
“He’s been such an important part of this Everton performance,” Sutton told BT Sport. “He’s broken the play up and passed the ball exceptionally well. He’s been the outstanding player for Everton.”

Everton moved out of the Premier League‘s bottom three after unanswered goals from Bernard and Gylfi Sigurdsson helped overcome the Hammers, and up next for the Toffees is the Premier League trip to Brighton next Saturday.
Gomes established himself as an Everton fan favourite last season on loan from Barcelona, leading to a permanent £22million switch to Goodison Park (official Everton website) on a deal worth approximately £112,000-per-week (Spotrac).
