Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has suggested on Twitter that he does not agree with Liverpool legend Phil Thompson’s claim about Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers.

Liverpool great Thompson has been quoted as saying by The Daily Record that Rangers manager Gerrard being able to convince striker Jermain Defoe and midfielder Steven Davis to move to the Glasgow giants on loan from Bournemouth and Southampton in the January transfer window is similar to when Graeme Souness was able to sign big-name players from English football to Rangers when he was in charge of the Ibrox club.

Sutton, though, does not seem to agree with Thompson’s comments, as his following post on Twitter shows:

Title challenge

Rangers have been doing well under former Liverpool midfielder Gerrard this season and are giving Old Firm rivals Celtic a run for their money.

The Gers are second in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 48 points from 24 matches, six points behind leaders Celtic and two points clear of third-placed Aberdeen.
