Lyon have reportedly made an enquiry to sign Celtic’s Dembele.

French side Lyon have reportedly made an enquiry to sign Celtic striker with a view to landing the Frenchman in a £15m-plus deal, and Chris Sutton has weighed up whether the Scottish champions should cash in.

Dembele, 22, has been constantly linked with a move away from the Scottish champions after scoring 32 goals in his first season since joining the club from Fulham more than two years ago.

Last season, the France Under-21 international failed to replicate the kind of form that saw him burst onto the European scene, but he still remains on a number of clubs’ shortlists – including Ligue 1 outfit Lyon.

The Daily Record claim that Lyon have made an enquiry to sign Dembele, and are planning an offer worth more than £15million. But Celtic icon Sutton believes that simply “can’t happen”.

Dembele has an eye-catching record at Celtic, scoring 51 goals in 94 league and cup outings for the Hoops. He has proved crucial in winning the double treble under Brendan Rodgers.

His long-term future is likely to be away from Celtic, with only two years left on his £25,000-a-week contract (Daily Star) at Parkhead. The Hoops have until Friday to bring in new players.
