Everton lost to Lyon in the Europa League this evening.

Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has strongly criticised Everton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin on social networking site Twitter.

Sutton has slammed the former Manchester United midfielder for being dismissed during Everton’s Europa League game against Lyon in France this evening.

The 27-year-old defensive midfielder was sent off 10 minutes from full time, as the Toffees lost the Group E fixture 3-0.

Former Chelsea striker Sutton was following the match, and he has strongly criticised Schneiderlin on Twitter.

The France international has been on the books of Everton since January 2017 when he joined from Manchester United for an initial transfer fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £20 million.

Sutton has also given his take on Everton’s defeat to Lyon on Twitter.

The defeat to Lyon means that Everton will not be able to progress further in the Europa League this season.

The Toffees will now focus their attention on domestic football and on the Premier League match against Watford at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.
