Liverpool were made to fight for their first Champions League win of the season.
The Reds began the game sensationally, cruising into a 3-0 lead over Red Bull Salzburg.
The Austrians pulled one back just before half-time and then kicked on in the second half to bring the score back to 3-3.
Mohamed Salah popped up to clinch a late winner and spare Liverpool’s blushes.
BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton hit out at the Reds for being too complacent.
He said that the work rate dropped and the defence took their eye off their task.
Sutton explained: “There was a lack of concentration, at 3-0 up they got complacent, they though they had won. The defenders seemed to pass on the responsibility of marking to their teammates.
“They took their foot of the gas and Salzburg exposed them and utilised it. Liverpool switched off and under-estimated their opponents tonight.”
Amid a domestic winning streak, top sides can often find themselves caught out in Europe.
Liverpool are not used to teams fighting back against them once they go in front.
If they did lose concentration, it can be forgiven, thanks to Mohamed Salah, and it will act as a reminder to Jurgen Klopp and his team to make sure it does not happen again.
