Sutton and Larsson celebrate for Celtic

Chris Sutton has told the Daily Record that Glasgow Rangers winger Barrie McKay was bottling challenges against Celtic yesterday.

McKay was given a starting role for Rangers at Parkhead, but he did not manage to influence the match too much.

With Rangers 1-0 down, the highly rated 22-year-old was taken off and replaced by Josh Windass.

And Rangers ended up coming from behind to claim a point, when Clint Hill scrambled home an equaliser.

Sutton believes that McKay’s withdrawal was one of the turning points in the match, as the youngster was not putting in the effort required.

“Taking Barrie McKay off was a great decision because he was pulling out of tackles,” Sutton said. “Remember this is the guy rated as a £6million player in January but he’s a frustration. He just didn’t fancy it yesterday.”

McKay has been one of Rangers’ stand out players this season, but did not find his top level yesterday.

Rangers did have reason to celebrate though, as their performance was much improved from the last one they delivered at Parkhead.

Rangers are now set to head into a new era, with Pedro Caixinha set to take charge for the first time in Rangers’ next match, which comes against Hamilton.
