Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham recently criticised the standard of Scottish football.
Earlier this month, Ntcham told French publication L’Equipe that he wants to leave Celtic in the summer transfer window.
The former Manchester City midfielder said that he was disappointed not to have joined FC Porto last summer, and criticised the standard of football in the Scottish Premiership.
Celtic manager Neil Lennon suggested last week that he will speak to Ntcham, as quoted in The Scottish Sun.
Former Celtic striker Sutton, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport and BT Sport, has criticised the 23-year-old French midfielder – who joined the Hoops from City in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £4.5 million.
Sutton wrote about Ntcham in The Daily Record: “The Frenchman had some cheek saying Scottish football wasn’t a big enough challenge. If anything he found it too tough last season.
“He’s angling for a move but he’s going the wrong way about it – you don’t talk your way in to a big club. You earn it on the pitch.
“Ntcham will rely on his agent being silver tongued because anyone watching last year would not have seen a £15m player.
“He had a decent game against Rangers early on but was shocking against St Mirren after that and never recovered.”
Celtic exit inevitable?
Following Ntcham’s comments, it is hard to see the midfielder stay at Celtic beyond the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old is a good midfielder, but the Hoops can replace him, and perhaps the Glasgow giants should seriously consider cashing in on him.
