Chris Sutton says that Celtic defender Mikael Lustig needs to step up.
The former Celtic striker has praised Lustig for his service to the Glasgow giants over the years, but he believes that Sweden international right-back needs to step up his game.
Sutton wrote in The Daily Record about Lustig: “He’s been a brilliant servant to the club, but there are signs he is creaking. He made far too many mistakes and lost his consistency.
“That’s not good for a right back and, with a new one surely going to be signed, the Swede needs to up his game.”
Important player
Lustig has been on the books of Celtic since January 2012 when he joined after leaving Rosenborg.
The Sweden international has been an important player for the Bhoys over the years, and has been important in the Glasgow giants winning the Scottish league title seven times, the Scottish Cup thrice and the Scottish League Cup.
However, as Sutton has pointed out, Lustig was not at his best this past season, and the 31-year-old does need to step up his game.

Lustig could face stiff competition for a place in the Celtic starting lineup from Anthony Ralston.
The 19-year-old right-back has featured in the Champions League for the Hoops, and a loan spell at Dundee United will have done him good.
