Chris Sutton has compared Celtic star Tom Rogic to Arsenal ace Mesut Ozil in The Daily Record.

The former Celtic striker seems to rate the Australia international attacking midfielder highly and has compared him to Arsenal attacking midfielder Ozil, who has been on the books of the Gunners since the summer of 2013 when he joined from Real Madrid for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £42.4 million.

Sutton, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport and BT Sport and is quite outspoken in his views, has also admitted that it is a mystery why Rogic struggles to compete 90 minutes.

“Rogic has his detractors for various things,” Sutton wrote in The Daily Record. “One is his fitness, with many who can’t understand why he struggles to get through entire 90 minutes of games.

“Given his age, it’s a mystery, but stamina can be improved. You can’t teach his touch. That’s a gift you are born with.

“Rogic’s languid style can make him look uninterested when things aren’t going his way, but that’s unfair. It’s just his gait. In many ways, he reminds me of Mesut Ozil at Arsenal.

“Ozil also has that laid back style which can make him look as though he’s not at full-pelt even when the chips are down.”

Mesut Ozil of Arenal is dejected after the Premier League match between Liverpool and Arsenal at Anfield on August 27, 2017 in Liverpool, England.

Important player for Celtic

Rogic is one of the best and most creative players in the current Celtic team and has been playing well this season.

The 25-year-old attacking midfielder has scored three goals and provided four assists in 15 Scottish Premiership matches for the Hoops so far this season, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

The Australian star is a big-game player, and although he is not at the level of Ozil, there are certainly similarities between the two footballers.

Ozil is one of the best attacking players in the world and won the World Cup with Germany in 2014.

According to The World Game, Rogic has turned down a new contract offer by Celtic as he was not impressed by the terms, and is reportedly valued at $6 million (£3.28m) by the Hoops.
