Everton manager Marco Silva has come under increasing pressure from the supporters after being knocked out of the FA Cup.
Chris Sutton has stated that Neil Lennon would be ‘an interesting appointment’ for Everton if they were to appoint a new manager.
BBC Sport reported last week that Lennon had been ‘suspended’ from his managerial duties at Hibernian and is ‘unlikely’ to take charge of the club again.
Former Celtic man, Lennon was absent during his side’s 3-1 win at bottom-of-the-table St Mirren, which perhaps further signifies that he is about to leave his post.
In England, Everton boss Marco Silva came under more scrutiny after his side were knocked out of the FA Cup by Millwall when a fan suggested that Scotland-based Lennon should replace Silva in the dugout, Sutton issued this response:
“I think it’s interesting the Hibs situation, I don’t think there is any way back,” Sutton told BBC 606. “It would be an interesting appointment. He’s got a lot to offer.”
During his managerial career, Lennon has managed Celtic, English Championship side Bolton and helped Hibs earn promotion from the second tier of Scottish football.
Nonetheless, Silva, who was appointed Everton boss in the summer replacing the sacked Sam Allardyce, will be preparing for his side’s Premier League clash at Huddersfield on Tuesday.
After being knocked out of the FA Cup by a Championship team, there will be a lot of pressure on the players, who take on a team that is sitting bottom of the table.
The Toffees are currently sitting outside of the top 10 and could potentially move up to seventh if they pick up all three points and other games fall in their favour.
