Celtic Head of Recruitment Lee Congerton is reportedly wanted by Leicester City.

Pundit and ex-Celtic player Chris Sutton looks on prior to the Betfred Cup Final between Celtic and Aberdeen at Hampden Park on December 2, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Chris Sutton has suggested in The Daily Record that Celtic fans will not be bothered if Lee Congerton leaves the club.

Congerton is the Head of Recruitment at Scottish Premiership giants at the moment.

However, the Welshman has been linked with moves away from the Glasgow giants, with Sky Sports claiming of interest in him from Belgian club Anderlecht and two teams in Major League Soccer in the USA.

Leicester City are also reported to be interested in the 45-year-old, with the Premier League club’s new manager Brendan Rodgers having worked with him at Celtic and Chelsea.

Rodgers recently left the managerial role at the Bhoys to take charge of Leicester.

Former Celtic striker Sutton does not think that Congerton will be a big loss for the Hoops if he leaves the club.

Sutton wrote in The Daily Record: “The scouting part has gone array in recent seasons and I doubt many Celtic fans will be shedding any tears when they read about Lee Congerton being tipped to follow Rodgers to Leicester City, or Anderlecht or wherever else.

“He must have a good agent but for Celtic it will be good riddance. They simply need to get the recruitment side of things back on track.”

Treble hunt

Celtic have already won the Scottish League Cup, and the Glasgow giants are on the hunt for the domestic treble in Scotland for the third season in a row.

The Glasgow giants are as many as eight points clear of second-placed and bitter Old Firm rivals Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment, and they have also reached the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.
