Chris Sutton told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport that Rangers fans will be ‘glad’ that Alfredo Morelos has now ‘turned up’ this season following his goals on Sunday.
The 24-year-old netted a brace at Pittodrie as Rangers secured a tricky three points against 10-man Aberdeen.
In recent seasons, it has been Morelos who has been the one ripping it up as the lone figure for the Gers, but it has been a different story during this campaign.
It has been a more collective effort from back to front, with Morelos producing more back-seat-like performances, as Sutton issued this verdict.
“Rangers this season have been phenomenal,” said Sutton. “They have been a cut above everybody else. They have left Celtic trailing in the distance. Celtic aren’t coming back from this.
“If you are a Rangers fan you are thinking ‘I am sort of glad Morelos turned up’ because he hasn’t been at his best this season.”

Even the most ardent of Celtic supporters will admit that the title race is now over, it’s now just a case of by how many points will Steven Gerrard’s side win the title by?
Usually, it’s Rangers who are making trips to Dubai and returning back with drama, but it’s their neighbours who have taken that key this time around given recent events.
From Rangers’ perspective, they will just be enjoying the shambolic show that is undertaking place at Parkhead this season because their defence of 10-in-a-row has been an utter disgrace.
