Chris Sutton claims Marko Arnautovic looks like a different player under Moyes, analyses his celebration

West Ham United thrashed Stoke City 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Pundit Chris Sutton has told the Daily Mail that he thinks Marko Arnautovic is starting to show his quality for West Ham United under David Moyes.

After strong results against Chelsea and Arsenal, West Ham headed to Stoke on Saturday afternoon, and handed Moyes his second win as Hammers boss.

Mark Noble scored the opener from the penalty spot after Manuel Lanzini controversially hit the deck in the penalty area, before Lanzini set up Marko Arnautovic and Diafra Sakho to make it 3-0 in the second half.

West Ham are now out of the relegation zone, and the increasing influence of Arnautovic is becoming a major boost for manager Moyes.

The Austrian forward was snapped up in a club-record deal by former boss Slaven Bilic over the summer, but he struggled to make any sort of impact under the Croatian.

With two goals in his last three games, West Ham are finally starting to see a return from the former Stoke man, who returned to haunt the Potters on Saturday afternoon.

Now, pundit Chris Sutton has told the Daily Mail that he thinks Arnautovic’s celebrations – giving a Hammers sign to the travelling West Ham fans – shows he does have passion left in him, suggesting that he already looks like a different player under Moyes.

Sutton added that Arnautovic’s performances of late bode well for West Ham, but thinks that Stoke will feel they have really lost a talent by selling the forward over the summer.

“Good on him for giving the Hammers sign — it told me he has plenty of fire his his belly,” said Sutton. “He looks a totally different player since David Moyes arrived. He is looking lean, mean and hungry. Plenty of incoming managers say they will improve the players’ fitness. This is the first time I have noticed a real difference. West Ham are running four miles further per match than they were under Slaven Bilic.”

“Arnautovic has clearly responded and is becoming West Ham’s first-choice No 9. He has the physicality and ability to thrive as the lone striker. Andy Carroll is not as mobile and Javier Hernandez’s hold-up play is not as good. With more composed finishing, Arnautovic could have scored a bagful on Saturday. It only bodes well for West Ham… and Stoke must realise what they have lost,” he added.
