Chris Sutton claims Glasgow Rangers’ defender Andy Halliday isn’t very good at left-back

Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers remarkably drew 5-5 yesterday, with Andy Halliday playing at left-back.

Chris Sutton has told BT Sport that Glasgow Rangers’ utility man Andy Halliday simply isn’t a very good left-back.

Halliday was required to play at full-back for Rangers yesterday, in their match against Hibernian.

And the 26-year-old’s defensive frailties were on full display in the contest at Easter Road.

Rangers and Hibs drew 5-5 in what was a remarkable match, where neither defence impressed.

And Sutton said of Halliday’s performance: “You feel for him in many respects, but he’s just not a very good left-back.”

In fairness to Halliday, he is a more natural midfielder, but he has been asked to play left-back a lot recently for the Ibrox side.

Rangers are short of options at full-back, which has led to Halliday having to step in and cover.

Whether Halliday will remain at Ibrox next season remains to be seen, as he has not featured regularly for Rangers this term.

Halliday has made just 18 appearances across all competitions for the Gers this season.
