Celtic will win the treble-treble if they can beat Hearts in the Scottish Cup final.
Chris Sutton has brutally stated that the Celtic supporters won’t miss the departing Dedryck Boyata, who should have been sold by the club last summer.
The Belgium international, whose contract at Parkhead ends in the summer, has signed a contract with German club Hertha Berlin, as reported by BBC Sport.
In recent seasons, Boyata has been a key member of Celtic’s backline and has played a big part in them winning countless number of trophies under Brendan Rodgers.
Speaking to BT Sport’s official Periscope account (19/05/2019), Sutton shared his thoughts on Boyata departing and suggested what the fans might think of him.
“If he was fit you could chuck him on the bench at the weekend,” Sutton told BT Sport. “I think he divides opinion, doesn’t he?! They should have bumped him last summer.
“I have to say, he has had the odd moment this season, but credit to him after all the debacle after Athens, he has knuckled down and played relatively well. I don’t think he will be missed by Celtic fans.”
Kristoffer Ajer and Jozo Simunovic have been Celtic’s main men at the heart of the club’s defence for large parts of the season, especially since Neil Lennon arrived.
Boyata, who played for English Premier League side Manchester City during his younger days, hasn’t played since March because of an injury.
Just like Sunday, when Celtic beat Hearts 2-1 on the final day of the regular season, Boyata will watch on from the sidelines for that Scottish Cup final against Hearts.
