Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers were beaten by rivals Celtic at Parkhead this weekend.

Chris Sutton has told the Monday Night Club, which was broadcast on BBC Radio Five Live, that Alfredo Morelos and Kyle Lafferty let down Glasgow Rangers at the weekend.

Steven Gerrard decided to start with the two strikers for Rangers at Parkhead, in a selection decision which was a surprise to many.

However, both Lafferty and Morelos struggled to get involved in the contest for Rangers.

The strike pair failed to hold of the ball up and relieve some of the pressure on their teammates, when Gerrard’s team did get service into them.

And Sutton has suggested that Morelos and Lafferty let down Rangers at the weekend.

“I expected more from Rangers,” he said. “I thought the centre forwards let them down badly. Morelos, I actually quite like him, but if you want to be a Rangers player you have to turn up in the big games. And Lafferty.”

Morelos’ season at Rangers has already been very much an up and down one, with indiscipline plaguing his time at Ibrox.

Morelos has scored some crucial goals for Rangers, but he has also been sent off twice for petulant acts.

Lafferty, meanwhile, has only just rejoined Rangers and appears to be attempting to re-find his feet at his new club.
