Chris Sutton has written in The Record that next season is make or break for Vakoun Issouf Bayo at Celtic.

The Ivorian striker joined Celtic for £2m in January of 2019 under Brendan Rodgers.

But fast forward 18 months and Bayo has only managed 206 minutes of Premiership for the Bhoys since arriving.

Some of this is down to injury but, for the most part, Odsonne Edouard, Leigh Griffiths and Patryk Klimala to a lesser extent are simply ahead of him in the pecking order.

Celtic spent £3 million on Bayo’s fellow Ivorian Eboue Kouassi in January of 2017, but he has flopped big time in Glasgow.

But Sutton warns that Bayo is destined for the same disappointment if he doesn’t start blowing people away during the 2020-21 campaign.

He wrote: “In terms of Bayo, he’s in danger of running out of time as well as falling down the pecking order. He arrived with a reputation for scoring a lot of goals in Slovakia but this has to be his season otherwise he will go the same way as another big money signing, Eboue Kouassi.”

Bayo knew that Edouard and Griffiths were at Celtic at the time he joined, so he knew what he was getting himself into.

The good news is that the 6’2 striker is the only centre-forward of his kind at Parkhead right now, and that could stand him in good stead.
