Newcastle United went into this current international break by recording a much-needed win.
Chris Sutton has hit out at Miguel Almiron for his ‘diving’ as he stated that the Newcastle United man has ‘more dives’ than he does have goals this season.
The incident which Sutton is referring to took place just before the international break when Newcastle recorded a 1-0 win over Manchester United on home soil.
Almiron appeared to dive during that game when he was making his normal bursting run into the attacking third – he was booked for his actions which took place in the second half.
Speaking to 606 on BBC Radio 5 Live (13/10//2019), former Premier League striker, Sutton let his feelings known about Almiron when talking about simulation as he questioned ‘what’s going on?’.
“Well, Miguel Almiron has more dives than goals this season,” Sutton told 606. “He’s not scored. He goes top of the table [for simulations]. You are better than that Almiron.
“What’s going on with players? What’s going on with country? They’re not listening You are better than that, Almiron! Let’s see goals, let’s see goal! Let’s not see dives! Let’s not see the simulation.”
In the end, that incident didn’t prove costly for Almiron’s team because they did go on to secure all three points against a struggling United side.
Nonetheless, after the international break, Steve Bruce will be hoping his Newcastle side can build on their recent win and try to feed some more positivity into the side.
They will make a trip to London at the weekend where they will take on Frank Lampard’s youthful Chelsea side, who are just sitting outside of the Champions League places.
