Sunderland have officially recorded the worst ever start to a Premier League season. They lost 4-1 to Arsenal at the Stadium of Light yesterday which left them with just two points from 10 games in the league this season.

The result was deserved for Arsenal as, yet again, Sunderland put in an abject display.

It looks like yet again Sunderland will be fighting against relegation this season. On this occasion, it looks like they may not survive.

David Moyes will also be struggling to keep his job at this point. Sunderland have certainly got previous when it comes to sacking managers mid season and with the way they are currently playing Moyes’ future is surely in doubt.

One former Premier League striker thinks the sack could be incoming.

Chris Sutton told BT Sport this weekend that Sunderland were as good as relegated and that Moyes was likely to lose his job:

“I’m not going to sand here and make a case for Sunderland. Two points from ten games? They are relegated as far as I am concerned.

“The next two games, I think they’ve got Bournemouth and Hull. If they don’t beat Hull – I think David Moyes will go.”

There is no doubt that Sunderland are going to be in the relegation fight this season and Moyes will be hoping he doesn’t follow in the footsteps of Paolo Di Canio, Gus Poyet and Dick Advocaat in his managerial standing at the Stadium of Light.

But the way things are going, a change might be needed.
