Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers gave Jordan Rossiter a rare opportunity today.
Rossiter was given a rare start for Rangers today against Hibernian, and he impressed in the centre of their midfield.
Rossiter’s selection saw Greg Docherty dropped to the sidelines, and he may have been disappointed not to feature.
Even when Rossiter was substituted off for the Ibrox side, Rangers opted to put Andy Halliday into midfield and bring on a full-back, rather than put Docherty on the pitch.
And when it was put to Chris Sutton how Docherty may feel at being left out of Rangers’ line-up. He said: “I just wonder if that was Steven Gerrard’s influence, Jordan Rossiter today.”
Rossiter is well known to Gerrard, as the pair played together at Liverpool.
Rossiter has had a difficult time ever since moving to Rangers, with injury thwarting his progress.
Rossiter hobbled off for Rangers at Easter Road today, but there is hope that Gerrard’s arrival can help him stay off the treatment table.
Rangers drew their match against Hibernian 5-5, with Rossiter scoring the Light Blues’ second of the match.
